Some 75,000 tonnes of grain storage in nine vertical silos, plus 30,000 tonnes in flat cells, anchor Diamante, the last deep-sea port on Argentina's Paraná River and the only overseas port in Entre Ríos province. The elevator, once acquired by Cargill and now run as Puerto Diamante SA, loads grain at up to 2,400 tonnes per hour and by-products at 2,000 tonnes per hour. Its 156 m quay has handled vessels up to 257 m in length. This is purely an agricultural dry-bulk loading point; no containers or breakbulk move across these berths. The hinterland is the farming country of Entre Ríos, fed by road and increasingly by transhipment traffic that opens new markets. For boxes or larger grain parcels, shippers look upriver to Rosario and San Lorenzo.
