Depot Harbour is a port in name and history only: this abandoned terminus on Parry Island, once the busiest grain harbour on Georgian Bay and reputedly the finest natural harbour on the Great Lakes, has handled no commercial cargo since operations moved away in 1933 and its elevators burned in 1945. Today the site is a ghost town on Wasauksing First Nation land, with no terminals, customs facilities or shipping services. Freight moving by water in the region relies instead on Seaway ports such as Hamilton, or Thunder Bay for grain.
