About 250,000 barrels a day of Sakhalin-1 crude were being shipped through De Kastri as of June 2026, part of a combined flow exceeding 1.25 million barrels a day that Russia now moves through its Far East terminals of Kozmino and De Kastri. On the Tatar Strait coast of Khabarovsk Krai, the terminal ships Sokol crude year-round, delivered by a 230-kilometre pipeline from Sakhalin Island. Since ExxonMobil's withdrawal in March 2022, the Sakhalin-1 consortium has been operated by the Russian entity Sakhalin-1 LLC. The facility combines storage tanks of around 1.3 million barrels with a single point mooring some 6 kilometres offshore, and has an annual capacity of about 12 million tonnes. Loading goes straight into tankers; there is no breakbulk, container or general-cargo customs handling here. Shippers needing container or general cargo in the Russian Far East use Vladivostok or Vostochny instead.
