Between the castles guarding the mouth of the River Dart, Dartmouth's deep natural harbour today serves yachts, fishing boats and cruise callers far more than commercial freight, which largely left with containerisation. It is one of England's more important shellfish ports and home to the Britannia Royal Naval College, with deep-water fish quays at South Embankment and Kingswear that offer good HGV access for landed catch.
