With more than 200 boat slips, three harbours and a place among the United States' top 100 fishing ports, Craig is first and foremost a commercial fishing town on the southwest shore of Prince of Wales Island, southeast Alaska. Its docks — two fish-buying wharves, a historic cannery, a city dock and a fuel float — support fleets working halibut, coho and chinook salmon, lingcod and shellfish. For a forwarder, Craig is not a container or general-cargo port: incoming supplies arrive largely by dry-cargo barge, while seafood is the main outbound flow. Road access via the Craig–Klawock–Hollis Highway connects to the Inter-Island Ferry at Hollis, but there is no container line or routine overseas customs clearance here. International container freight is better routed through Ketchikan or the Seattle/Tacoma gateways.
