In 2024 Corpus Christi (US CRP) moved 206.5 million tonnes, of which 130.5 million tonnes were crude oil – figures that make it the United States' leading crude export gateway and its third-busiest port by tonnage. The crude comes from the Permian Basin and Eagle Ford fields and reaches the docks through a dense pipeline network rather than by rail or road. Alongside oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and rising volumes of dry bulk and agricultural products define the cargo mix. This is an energy and bulk port, not a container hub: scheduled box services are effectively absent. Forwarders with containers, breakbulk or varied liner needs route instead through Houston, the dominant Gulf gateway. For crude, refined products and bulk on the Texas coast, however, Corpus Christi leads, backed up by Beaumont and Port Arthur.
