# Copper Harbor

**Country:** United States
**Water Body:** Lake Superior; Great Lakes
**Harbor Size:** Very Small
**Harbor Type:** Coastal (Natural)
**GPS:** 47.4667, -87.8667

Where other Lake Superior ports move iron ore and grain by lake freighter, Copper Harbor at the tip of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula carries only passengers: it is the seasonal departure point for the Isle Royale Queen IV ferry to Isle Royale National Park. The harbour handles no containers, bulk cargo or customs traffic, and the ferry runs only from mid-May to late September. Freight moving through this region is routed via commercial Great Lakes ports such as Marquette or the Duluth-Superior complex. For freight forwarders, Copper Harbor is of very limited relevance.
