Gasoline, diesel, solvents, industrial oils and export-grade asphalt are the cargoes that define Conchán, a tanker terminal rather than a general port. It sits offshore from Petroperú's Conchán refinery at Lurín, about 26 kilometres south of Lima, loading liquid petroleum products through offshore buoys and the refinery's sales plant. Containers, breakbulk and routine customs clearance for general trade are not handled here. Inaugurated in 1961 and run by Petroperú since 1973, the terminal connects to greater Lima via the Panamericana Sur highway. Shippers with container or breakbulk cargo use the nearby major port of Callao, served by APM Terminals and DP World.
