Two names dominate Concarneau's waterfront: the fishing fleet and the Piriou shipyard. One of France's leading fishing ports on the southern coast of Brittany, it handles tuna, sardines and other Atlantic landings, while Piriou builds ocean-going tuna seiners of 80 to 90 metres, offshore and service vessels, and runs ship-repair work.
