A 2.5-hectare LPG pier, an underwater pipeline, fuel storage tanks and a 225 MW power station make Clifton Pier the energy backbone of New Providence rather than a general-cargo gateway. Located on the island's western end, it operates as a sub-port of Nassau and handles liquid bulk — petroleum products, liquefied petroleum gas, molasses and alcohol — across an open roadstead exposed to weather. Bahamas Power and Light runs the adjacent generating station, while a separate terminal receives and distributes aviation fuels (Jet A-1 and Avgas). Because the facility is built for tankers, it offers no container or breakbulk handling and no reefer capacity. Customs and import processing for fuels is managed through Bahamian authorities alongside the Nassau port complex. Containerised and general cargo for the island moves instead through Nassau Container Port at Arawak Cay. For energy and liquid-bulk shipments, Clifton Pier is the relevant call; for everything else, Nassau is the answer.
