A 660-metre cement jetty operated by Holcim and an adjacent Petro-Canada liquid-bulk dock define Clarkson (CA CSN) on the Lake Ontario shore at Mississauga. Despite legacy descriptions, this is not a container port: traffic centres on dry bulk cement, liquid bulk and breakbulk, with tankers accounting for roughly half of vessel calls. Reached through the St. Lawrence Seaway system, the port accommodates lakers and tankers up to about 226 m long and 9.5 m draught. Onward distribution into the Greater Toronto Area runs by truck and rail, suiting regional construction-materials and petroleum-product flows. Containerised or conventional liner cargo is better served at Hamilton or Toronto.
