On the Tarkhankut Peninsula in western Crimea, on Ak-Mechet Bay, Chornomorske (formerly Ak-Mechet) is a small resort town of around 11,700 people with light food-processing industry and limited freight relevance. Its small harbour serves local and fishing needs; there is no UN/LOCODE, and commercial container or breakbulk traffic is not confirmed. Crimea has also been under international sanctions since 2014, sharply restricting regular international shipping. For commercial Black Sea cargo, forwarders rely on ports such as Constanța (Romania) or, in the Ukrainian context, Chornomorsk/Odesa — not to be confused with this town.
