Charco Azul is a crude-oil terminal, not a general-cargo port, set in Charco Azul Bay about 7 km south of Puerto Armuelles on Panama's Pacific coast. It forms the Pacific end of the Trans-Panama Pipeline, which since 1982 has moved crude across 131 km between the Pacific and the Caribbean at Chiriquí Grande, with capacity near 860,000 barrels a day. Three docks take supertankers up to VLCC size, supported by a ballast-water treatment system and three tanks holding 2.5 million barrels of crude. No containers, breakbulk or conventional liner services are handled here; the profile is purely tanker and energy logistics. There is no rail link, and crude moves ship-to-pipeline rather than by road. For containers and general cargo on Panama's Pacific side, Balboa and the PSA Panama terminal at Rodman are the right gateways.
