If one terminal embodies Vietnam's container trade, it is Cát Lái, which alone handles close to half of the nation's container throughput. Operated by Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) as Tân Cảng–Cát Lái, the facility sits on the Đồng Nai River in Thủ Đức and offers seven berths with annual capacity in the multi-million-TEU range. It forms the core of the Ho Chi Minh City port complex, which moved about 9.1 million TEU in 2024 and ranked roughly 22nd worldwide. Operations cover full and empty boxes, reefer containers with dedicated plugs and dangerous goods, backed by the adjoining Cat Lai Free Port Zone and full import-export customs clearance.
