Operated largely by Kinder Morgan, the Carteret terminal on the Arthur Kill in New Jersey is above all a liquid-products node within the wider Port of New York and New Jersey. Its roughly 197-acre tank farm holds some 280 tanks and about 7.8 million barrels of petroleum products, chemicals, ethanol, biodiesel and vegetable oils. Six docks — two deep-water ocean berths taking around 11 m draft and four barge berths — move the bulk liquids, backed by CSX rail and multiple pipeline connections. A neighbouring Port Carteret complex adds heavy-industry land and more than 2 million square feet of warehouse and distribution space. Containers and conventional breakbulk line services are not part of the offer. For boxes, forwarders use Port Newark-Elizabeth or the nearby Howland Hook Marine Terminal.
