Constructed on Russwurm Island and tied to the mainland by a causeway and a breakwater of roughly 150 metres, the Port of Cape Palmas – also known as Harper (LR CPA) – anchors trade in Liberia's far southeast. Its commercial purpose is narrow but real: logs, sawn timber and rubber make up the throughput, with annual exports of around 65,000 m³ of timber and over 6,000 tonnes of rubber. A single 100-metre concrete pier offers only about 5.5 metres of water, so larger vessels anchor offshore while cargo moves by barge and coastal tanker. Container line service is not confirmed here; shippers should treat Cape Palmas as a breakbulk and forest-products outlet rather than a box port. Road links carry goods into Maryland County, but there is no rail connection.
