Some 621 metres of quayage at the head of Campbeltown Loch handle coasters, fishing vessels, timber and occasional cruise calls, with the harbour run by Argyll and Bute Council. The New Quay RoRo berth has a linkspan and a 1,000-tonne-capacity crane, while a deeper NATO/MoD jetty on the south shore offers around 11 m of water. In summer a CalMac vehicle and passenger ferry also links Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast. There is no container line or international scheduled cargo service, and goods move inland by road along the A83 rather than by rail. Forwarders handling boxes, breakbulk or long-haul freight route via Glasgow or the Clydeport/Greenock terminals.
