Bushehr (IR BUZ) is the leading commercial port of Iran's Bushehr Province, a multipurpose gateway on the central Persian Gulf handling around 3.15 million tonnes a year. Its seven berths take dry bulk, containers, general and petrochemical cargo plus reefer goods; container capacity runs near 500,000 TEU, while actual box throughput recently reached about 75,000 TEU, up 34% year on year. Mobile and gantry cranes work roughly 2,500 metres of quay backed by some 150,000 m² of storage, serving vessels up to about 70,000 dwt. Cargo-berth depths of around 7.5 to 8 metres cap the largest container ships, which call elsewhere. International customs and banking are complicated by sanctions on Iran and warrant checking in advance. For deeper-draught or high-volume shipments, Bandar Abbas (Shahid Rajaee) and Bandar Imam Khomeini offer greater capacity.
