Eurogate and APM Terminals jointly run North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB), which alone moves over 3 million TEU a year. Together with MSC Gate, the port handled 4.44 million TEU in 2024, ranking among Europe's four largest container ports across nearly 5 km of quay, 14 berths and more than 5 million TEU of capacity. Next door, BLG's Auto Terminal Bremerhaven is one of the world's largest car ports, handling around 1.25 million vehicles in 2024. For forwarders, Bremerhaven is Germany's leading gateway for deep-sea container traffic and vehicle exports. Hinterland access is outstanding, with a high rail share linking the port to the European network, backed by road and inland barge. Reefer containers, dangerous goods and project cargo are all handled to a high standard, and customs follow standard EU procedures. In February 2026 Eurogate and APM Terminals announced a roughly EUR 1 billion modernisation of NTB, set to lift its capacity from 3 to 4 million TEU and run the terminal emission-free. When slots are tight or deeper water is needed, Hamburg, the deep-water JadeWeserPort at Wilhelmshaven and Rotterdam are the practical alternatives.
