Operated by the Turkish state pipeline company BOTAŞ, the Ceyhan marine terminal near Yumurtalık is the Mediterranean outlet of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) crude oil pipeline. It is a dedicated crude export installation rather than a multipurpose harbour: a roughly 2.6 km jetty with two berths loads tankers of up to 300,000 dwt, and a pier depth above 23 m accommodates fully laden VLCCs. In 2025 alone the terminal lifted around 27 million tonnes of crude onto some 283 tankers. There are no container, breakbulk or general-cargo facilities, and the hinterland link is the pipeline network rather than road or rail freight corridors. Forwarders only deal with Ceyhan for crude or bunker-related flows; for containers, project cargo or conventional shipments through southern Turkey, Mersin (MIP) and nearby İskenderun (LimakPort) are the practical gateways. The site is a first-rank energy hub but should not be mistaken for a commercial cargo port.
