Crude oil of the Bonny Light grade and liquefied natural gas — not container lines — are what matter at Bonny, in the Niger Delta. The Bonny Light crude export terminal has loading capacity of about 1.25 million barrels and typical throughput near 250,000 barrels per day; the former Shell onshore arm SPDC that ran it has been operated by Renaissance Africa Energy since its 2025 takeover. On Bonny Island, Nigeria LNG (NLNG), a joint venture of NNPC, Shell, TotalEnergies and Eni, runs six liquefaction trains totalling roughly 22 million tonnes of LNG a year; a seventh train under construction (Train 7) is set to lift capacity by about a third to around 30 million tonnes and start up from 2026. This is a pure energy-export site on the Gulf of Guinea: there is no conventional container, general-cargo or commercial customs handling here. Shippers needing boxes or project cargo around Port Harcourt use nearby Onne (Federal Ocean Terminal, WACT) or Port Harcourt itself. For tanker and LNG shippers, however, Bonny is one of West Africa's most important export points.
