Bangka's northern tin belt has shaped Belinyu since Chinese miners settled here in the 1700s, yet the town's freight role remains modest. Container services, customs clearance and significant breakbulk handling are not confirmed at this very small harbour, while a dedicated export jetty at Putat beach is still under development. Forwarders moving cargo to the Bangka-Belitung islands generally rely on Pangkal Balam near Pangkalpinang and on Muntok (Mentok) in the west, which shipped roughly 31,750 tonnes of tin in 2015. For tin concentrate or project loads, those two ports are the realistic alternatives.
