Despite the generic label "oil terminal", Beshayer (Bashayer) handles exactly that and nothing else: crude oil for export on the Red Sea, roughly 13 to 14 nautical miles south of Port Sudan, and in recent loadings it has carried over half of Sudan's crude exports. A pipeline of about 1,130 km brings crude from fields in Sudan and, above all, South Sudan: Bashayer 1 loads Nile Blend (operated by GNPOC) and Bashayer 2 loads Dar Blend (operated by PetroDar). Tankers load via offshore pipelines and mooring buoys on an open roadstead — there are no conventional quays, and no container or general-cargo capability whatsoever. After civil war broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF in April 2023, exports briefly collapsed but recovered markedly through 2025 once pipeline repairs were completed, though volumes remain volatile. The main buyers are refineries in the United Arab Emirates (Fujairah) and Malaysia. For containers, breakbulk, project cargo or general handling, nearby Port Sudan is the only realistic option in the region. Beshayer is relevant solely to tanker shippers of Sudanese and South Sudanese crude.
