Bayway (US 8BY) is a refinery waterfront rather than a cargo terminal: the docks here serve the Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery in Linden, New Jersey, on the Arthur Kill within the Port of New York and New Jersey. Commissioned in 1909 and rated at about 238,000 barrels a day, it is the northernmost refinery on the US East Coast, receiving crude by ship and shipping out gasoline, jet fuel, distillates and petrochemicals. The traffic is liquid petroleum and chemical product, not containers or breakbulk. Hinterland distribution relies on pipelines such as Colonial and Buckeye, backed by rail and road. For container shipments, forwarders use the nearby Port Newark and Elizabeth terminals in the same harbour complex.
