# Bay City

**Country:** United States
**Water Body:** North Pacific Ocean
**Harbor Size:** Very Small
**Harbor Type:** River (Natural)
**GPS:** 46.8667, -124.0667

Oysters, Dungeness crab and a modest fishing fleet account for nearly all activity at this very small natural harbour on the north shore of Willapa Bay, Washington. Since the US Army Corps of Engineers stopped dredging the channel to deep water in 1975, ocean-going freighters can no longer reach the bay, and the local Port of Willapa Harbor facilities serve shellfish barges and fishing boats rather than commercial cargo. For containers, breakbulk or customs-cleared shipments, freight forwarders route through Grays Harbor (Aberdeen/Hoquiam) instead. Bay City therefore has limited commercial freight relevance.
