Two deepwater berths at around 13 m, ship-to-shore cranes and DP World's CARGOES terminal operating system define the Batangas Container Terminal (BCT), the most modern box facility in the Philippines outside Manila, operated by Asian Terminals Inc. with DP World and rated at over 450,000 TEU annual capacity. BCT handled about 307,000 TEU in 2025, up 14% from 270,000 TEU in 2024, and operator ATI expects roughly 4% further growth in 2026 as imports keep rising. A new on-site warehouse is due to open in 2026, part of ATI's push to make Batangas a one-stop logistics location. A second, larger project is under way nearby: ICTSI's roughly USD 800 million South Luzon Container Terminal (SLCT) in Bauan, targeting commercial start-up in 2028 with an 800 m quay, 38 ha yard, 18 m berth depth and eventual capacity above 2 million TEU a year. Batangas is also the country's leading domestic gateway: more than three million passengers and over 200,000 vehicles a year move through its RoRo and ferry links to Mindoro, the Mimaropa region and the Visayas. For forwarders this dual role makes Batangas a practical place to consolidate container and RoRo flows, backed by road access via the STAR Tollway and SLEX to the estates of Cavite, Laguna and Batangas. The bulk of intercontinental services still run through Manila's MICT and South Harbor; when extra capacity or specialised cargo is needed, Subic is a further option.
