Yachts fill the 541 berths of Bangor Marina on the southern shore of Belfast Lough in County Down, one of Ireland's largest Five Gold Anchor leisure harbours. Until 1990 the harbour handled imported coal and general cargo on weekly services to the Isle of Man, but it then switched entirely to the leisure market; commercial use today is limited to trawlers landing catches and mussel boats. There are no container, RoRo or liner freight services, so for forwarders Bangor's cargo relevance is minimal. Ocean freight for the Belfast area moves through the Port of Belfast about 20 km away, with Larne adding RoRo and ferry capacity.
