Built to serve the Fábrica de Cemento Pertigalete, Bahia De Pertigalete is a dedicated industrial port on Venezuela's north-east coast in Anzoátegui state. The plant – formerly Vencemos, run by Cemex from 1994 and nationalised in 2008 – ships mainly cement and clinker in bulk and is designed for about 3.2 million t of clinker and 2.8 million t of cement a year. After years of weak utilisation, the site resumed exports in 2025, including a 15,000 t shipment. Its cargo pier, around 11 m deep, is geared to these bulk flows rather than to container traffic. The port sits within the Guanta cluster alongside the general-cargo Puerto de Guanta and the Punta Meta terminal. Boxes and general cargo are therefore better routed through Puerto de Guanta or, further west, the larger Puerto Cabello. Road connections via Puerto La Cruz open the Anzoátegui hinterland.
