Though often searched as a cargo gateway, Fajardo (UN/LOCODE PRFAJ) on Puerto Rico's north-east tip is primarily a marina and former ferry hub rather than a commercial freight port. Scheduled passenger and cargo ferries to the islands of Vieques and Culebra were relocated in 2018 to the Ceiba Ferry Terminal (Roosevelt Roads), about 10 km south. Fajardo is home to Puerto del Rey Marina, one of the Caribbean's largest, and handles mainly recreational and small local traffic. Containerised and general cargo for Puerto Rico is routed through San Juan, the island's main commercial seaport.
