As the main maritime supply point for Lanzarote, Arrecife keeps the Canary island stocked through its Los Mármoles and Puerto Naos basins. The port handles ro-ro and container traffic, break-bulk and dry bulk, liquid cargo and ferries, alongside cruise calls and a large fishing harbour. Being part of Spain – and therefore the EU customs area – it offers routine customs and container clearance. Quay depths of around 14 m allow it to take larger supply vessels, and a medium dry dock is available for repairs. With no railway on the island, onward distribution is entirely by road. For forwarders Arrecife is the gateway for Lanzarote, while Las Palmas on Gran Canaria acts as the wider Canary hub for transhipment and feeder links.
