APM Terminals runs the container operation at Aarhus that makes this Danish port the busiest in the country, handling more than 60 percent of national container traffic. In 2025 the port set a record of 843,665 TEU and 11.34 million tonnes of total throughput, up nearly 28 percent on containers from 659,886 TEU in 2024. The Kattegat gives direct access to North Sea and Baltic trade lanes. Hinterland reach runs over Jutland's motorway and rail network into the rest of Denmark and continental Europe, and EU single-market rules keep customs straightforward for overseas imports. Shippers needing more frequent deep-sea sailings can fall back on Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Gothenburg.
