On Nakadōri in the Kamigotō group of the Gotō Islands, off western Kyūshū in Nagasaki Prefecture, Aokata is chiefly a passenger and island-supply harbour rather than a commercial cargo port. Daily Nomo Shōsen ferries link it to Fukue, while the Taiko service connects Hakata (Fukuoka) via Uku, Ojika and Naru, carrying islanders, vehicles and limited general supplies. Classified as an open roadstead with no bunkering, the port handles no containers, dry bulk or customs clearance for international freight. Forwarders moving cargo to or from the Gotō Islands should route shipments through Nagasaki or the Hakata container terminal and treat Aokata only as a final island leg.
