Aalborg (DKAAL) is today a regional container terminal on the Limfjord handling around 70,000 TEU a year, and one of Denmark's busiest bulk ports. Port of Aalborg has run the container operation in-house since the 2022/23 turn of the year, after Royal Arctic Line shifted its Greenland and container activities to Aarhus. Dry and liquid bulk – grain, feedstuffs, fertiliser, gypsum, iron and mineral oil – form the backbone of throughput, alongside general cargo, RoRo and tanker traffic across roughly 870 metres of quay at about 9.3 metres depth. Direct rail and road links carry cargo into the northern Jutland hinterland. The port posted record revenue in both 2024 and 2025, its second consecutive record year. For deep-sea containerised cargo, Aarhus and its deep-water terminal or the German North Range are the practical alternatives.
