Al Rayyan Terminal is an offshore crude-export installation, not a port that handles commercial freight. Sitting about 50 kilometres north of Qatar and operated by QatarEnergy, the field produces medium sour crude of around 25° API, which is processed on the Al Morjan platform, held on a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel and lifted onto tankers via a single buoy mooring. Oil and condensate are also piped to Halul Island, the central storage and export point for Qatar's offshore fields. Only crude tankers call at the mooring; there is no container, RoRo, dangerous-goods, breakbulk or customs handling. For boxed and general cargo, Hamad Port south of Doha is the relevant facility, while Halul Island anchors the offshore oil trade. Forwarders moving conventional freight have no business to route through Al Rayyan.
