About 3.4 metres in the fairway and largely historic, the roadstead recorded under UN/LOCODE BH AMH off Bahrain's capital Manama has limited commercial cargo relevance today. The island's container and general-cargo traffic shifted long ago to nearby Khalifa Bin Salman Port on Hidd, operated by APM Terminals since 2009 and handling roughly 400,000 TEU a year. The older city port of Mina Salman remains Bahrain's main general-cargo and customs point, with more than three-quarters of its volume containerised. For scheduled shipments, customs clearance and box handling, route to these two ports rather than the Al Manamah anchorage.
