Around 750,000 tonnes of cargo and more than 600 vessels pass through Åhus (SE AHU) each year, with bulk accounting for roughly 70 percent of the volume on Sweden's Baltic coast. Operated by Åhus Hamn & Stuveri AB, the bulk terminal offers a 1,100-metre quay, three rail-mounted cranes rated at 25 tonnes and a Siwertell screw unloader. Exports centre on grain, stone, timber and alcohol — the neighbouring Absolut distillery ships part of its output here — while imports include oil, gypsum and fertiliser. Åhus is also south-east Sweden's leading container handler, with stacking space for about 3,000 TEU and 45-tonne cranes, though box volumes stay modest. Road and rail connect the quays to the Skåne hinterland. Shippers needing full container or ro-ro services usually route via Helsingborg or Malmö (CMP).
