Abidjan handled 1,697,131 TEU in 2025 — up 3.1% on 2024's 1,646,304 TEU — passing the one-million-container mark for a second consecutive year and confirming its place as West Africa's largest container port. The autonomous port on the Ébrié Lagoon is the region's economic hub and the principal sea outlet for landlocked Mali and Burkina Faso, whose transit traffic moves inland by road and along the Abidjan–Ouagadougou railway (Sitarail).
