Port operator Gulftainer is pursuing a long-term strategy to establish the location as a powerful logistics hub outside the Strait of Hormuz. During recent tensions in the Gulf region, Khor Fakkan has already gained in importance. Thanks to its location outside the major shipping route, the port is well-suited as an alternative hub for container traffic and transshipment services. According to the expansion plans presented, annual transshipment capacity is to increase from the current 3.5 million TEU to 5 million TEU.
