> Hapag-Lloyd expects higher earnings in 2026 than previously anticipated. The new EBITDA range is $3.9 to $4.4 billion.

---

Hapag-Lloyd has raised its earnings forecast for the current fiscal year once again. The group now expects EBITDA of 3.9 to 4.4 billion US dollars. EBITDA means earnings before interest, taxes, and depreciation. Previously, the range was 2.7 to 3.7 billion dollars.

The forecast for operating income EBIT has also been increased. It now stands at 1.25 to 1.75 billion dollars, compared to previously 0.1 to 1.1 billion dollars. Hapag-Lloyd cites continued strong market demand and positive development of spot rates as reasons.

For shippers, this announcement is a sign that the ocean freight market can remain tight and profitable despite regionally declining prices. However, the group outlook does not indicate that every route will become more expensive. Transpacific, Asia-Europe, and regional services are developing very differently.

A forecast remains an expectation. Geopolitical risks, fuel costs, port closures, and rapid changes in freight rates can influence results through year-end. For procurement, the specific relationship therefore counts more than just the shipping line's balance sheet announcement.

When issuing tenders, shippers should clearly distinguish between spot rates, FAK rates, and contract rates. The strong forecast is no reason to accept every increase. What matters are capacity, departure, and market comparison.

In short: Hapag-Lloyd is expected to earn more, but the rate situation remains different depending on the route.

The new EBITDA forecast is between $3.9 and $4.4 billion.

Previously, $2.7 to $3.7 billion was expected.

EBIT is expected to reach $1.25 to $1.75 billion.

The previous EBIT range was $0.1 to $1.1 billion.

Hapag-Lloyd attributes this to demand and spot rates.

These figures are a forecast, not a completed annual result.

Freight rates vary significantly by trade route.
