> Ethiopian orders ten Boeing cargo aircraft: eight 777-8F and two 777F. The African cargo hub Addis Ababa continues to expand.

---

Ethiopian Airlines is significantly expanding its cargo fleet. The carrier has placed a total order for ten new freighters with Boeing.

The order comprises eight Boeing 777-8 Freighters and two Boeing 777 Freighters. Ethiopian will become the first African buyer of the new 777-8F.

This order is important for the African air cargo market. Addis Ababa is already a significant cargo hub connecting Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

With new long-range freighters, Ethiopian can move greater volumes and heavier shipments across its network. This applies to pharmaceuticals, perishables, textiles, machinery, and e-commerce, among others.

It is important to note: all aircraft will not be at the gate tomorrow. New freighters are delivered over several years and integrated into the fleet. Therefore, this does not create immediate additional capacity in the short term.

For freight forwarders, the order nevertheless clearly signals Ethiopian's direction: more in-house cargo operations and a stronger hub in Addis Ababa.

For Africa traffic, Ethiopian remains a carrier worth keeping an eye on.

If you're moving pharmaceuticals, flowers, textiles, or industrial products between Africa and Europe/Asia, you'll have more options in the long term.

In short: Addis Ababa is being further developed as a cargo hub.
