> DaziT comes to an end, but the Swiss customs transition continues. All companies that deliver goods to Switzerland or export them from there are affected.

---

On December 31, 2026, Switzerland's customs program DaziT will officially be concluded. DaziT was launched in 2018 to replace legacy systems and further digitalize customs procedures.

For readers outside Switzerland, a brief explanation: Switzerland is not a member of the European Union and has its own customs border. Goods must therefore be declared for import and export. The Federal Customs Administration and Border Security Office, known as BAZG, is responsible.

With the end of DaziT, this modernization is not yet complete. An important component is the new goods traffic system Passar. It gradually replaces existing programs for transit, export, and import.

For transit and export, the transition has already been largely completed. For import, it is still ongoing. The legacy e-dec Import system can be used until September 30, 2027, according to current planning. After that, imports should only be declared via Passar.

This affects not only customs brokers. Importers, exporters, transport companies, courier services, software providers, and foreign suppliers must also adapt their processes. Anyone delivering goods to Switzerland should know what information the recipient or their customs representative requires.

Additionally, the previous ZAZ account number will be replaced by a Business Partner ID, or GP-ID for short. Companies must register for this in the federal ePortal. Automatic transfer of existing accounts is not planned. Therefore, it should be clarified in good time who will handle the registration and receipt of customs documents.

Border processing will also become more automated. In Passar, a prepared goods declaration only becomes legally binding through so-called activation. Ideally, this occurs digitally at the border crossing. To achieve this, the goods declaration, transport data, and vehicle must be correctly linked together.

DaziT as a program will soon be concluded. However, until the new systems run smoothly across the board and the legacy applications disappear, there is still considerable work to be done.

---

Companies with goods traffic to Switzerland should not confuse the end of the program with the end of the work.

It is now important to review your own status: Is the company registered in the ePortal? Is it clear who manages the GP-ID? Can the customs software used work with Passar? And do suppliers and transporters know which references they need at border crossing?

While old and new systems run in parallel, errors can easily occur. Missing data or incorrect linkages can lead to inquiries, waiting times, and additional costs. The transition therefore affects multiple departments in the company and not just the customs department.

In short: DaziT ends, but the practical customs transformation continues.

DaziT was launched on January 1, 2018.

The program ends as scheduled on December 31, 2026.

The approved special credit amounts to 393 million Swiss francs.

As of end of June 2026, 346.5 million Swiss francs, or 88 percent, had been spent.

The complete objectives are to be achieved gradually by 2030.

Passar replaces previous systems for transit, export, and import.

The transition for imports is still ongoing.

According to current planning, the last import declarations via e-dec are possible on September 30, 2027.

The GP-ID replaces the previous ZAZ account number in the new system.

For Passar, goods and transport data must be linked together.
