# BLG Invests 25 Million Euros in Hamburg Auto Terminal

BLG Logistics is investing approximately 25 million euros in its auto terminal at Hamburg Port. The expansion is intended to make the location fit for new requirements in vehicle logistics in the long term.

Among other things, a new warehouse is being constructed. There, vehicles can be refurbished, painted, and equipped. In the past year, around 130,000 vehicles were handled, processed, or transported onward at the location. According to NDR, approximately one quarter of these were already electric vehicles.

The market is changing rapidly. New vehicle manufacturers from Asia, increased numbers of electric cars, and changing RoRo traffic patterns place different demands on terminals. In addition to storage space, terminals increasingly need charging infrastructure, technical services, and additional services directly at the port.

For Hamburg, this investment is therefore much more than just a new building. The location aims to position itself more strongly as a vehicle logistics hub.

For vehicle freight forwarders, such investments are attractive because more services can be provided directly at the terminal. This can simplify pre- and post-haulage operations.

At the same time, the importance of cargo condition, battery handling, and secure parking spaces for electric vehicles is increasing.

In short: Vehicle terminals are increasingly evolving from parking lots into technical logistics hubs.
