Both white tarpaulin trailers bore the markings of logistics company GXO. Meanwhile, police have recovered both trailers in the Lathom area near Skelmersdale. The first was abandoned on September 1 at around 03:05 on Hall Lane. The second followed on September 2 at approximately 12:07 on Gillibrands Road. The Guinness barrels were no longer inside at that time. No arrests have been made so far. Police are particularly searching for a learner driver and their accompanying person. Their silver or white Renault Captur is said to have been cut off by the truck when the second trailer was abandoned.
