Le droit antidumping a pour fonction de protéger les producteurs nationaux contre des importations vendues à un prix inférieur à leur valeur normale sur le marché d'origine. Lorsqu'une autorité compétente – souvent saisie par des industriels du pays importateur – établit l'existence du dumping et d'un préjudice, elle peut imposer une taxe supplémentaire correspondant à la marge de dumping constatée. La procédure est encadrée par l'Accord antidumping de l'OMC et exige une enquête rigoureuse avant toute mesure. À ne pas confondre avec le droit compensatoire, qui vise les subventions accordées par des gouvernements étrangers et non le comportement tarifaire des exportateurs.
