> Cargo data are the shipment details a shipper or freight forwarder must pass to the carrier for executing, documenting and officially reporting a consignment – such as commodity type, quantity, weight, dimensions and, where relevant, dangerous goods class or the means of transport's energy source.

Cargo data are the shipment details a shipper or freight forwarder must pass to the carrier for executing, documenting and officially reporting a consignment – such as commodity type, quantity, weight, dimensions and, where relevant, dangerous goods class or the means of transport's energy source. In inland waterway transport they form the basis for electronic reports to authorities such as the Dutch waterway authority Rijkswaterstaat. Missing or late cargo data delays the report and can in turn delay departure.
