The process is triggered either automatically by the warehouse management system (WMS) when a minimum stock threshold is reached, or initiated manually by supervisors. It proceeds through retrieval, internal transport, and placement at the pick face – typically in pallet, bin, or case quantities. The objective is uninterrupted product availability at the point of pick, keeping order pickers productive and eliminating idle time. Unlike inbound receiving, which handles external deliveries, replenishment moves goods entirely within the four walls of the warehouse.
