Freight forwarders, carriers, and warehouse operators rely on this metric to evaluate operational efficiency: persistently low rates point to idle capacity tying up capital without generating revenue, while rates consistently near 100% can signal overload and deteriorating service quality. Monthly or annual averages are the standard reporting basis, smoothing seasonal peaks and enabling meaningful comparisons for pricing, investment, and capacity planning.
