Units per case is the figure recorded in item master data to show how many individual selling or product units are packed into a single standard shipping case. It underpins inventory accuracy, order picking, and shipment planning: knowing that one case holds 24 units allows a warehouse to instantly calculate how many cases are needed for an order of 240 pieces. At goods receipt, the figure is used to verify delivery quantities; at dispatch, it drives pallet configuration. Units per case should not be confused with cases per pallet – together, the two metrics define the full hierarchy of a load unit, from individual item to pallet.
