A Unified Cargo Manifest is a standardized document that consolidates all key cargo details for a vehicle or container into one reference: commodity descriptions, packaging type, quantities, gross and net weights, and shipper and consignee particulars. Submitted to customs, security, and control authorities as a single filing, it replaces separate submissions to each agency. In day-to-day freight operations the manifest also serves as the operational basis for warehouse receipt, sorting, and final delivery. In maritime transport it is a legally required document for port clearance; in air freight, the IATA-standard Consolidated Cargo Manifest fulfils an equivalent function. It should not be confused with the bill of lading, which evidences title to the goods – the manifest is purely declaratory and administrative in nature.
