Major container terminals – including those in Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Singapore – operate fleets ranging from several dozen to well over a hundred AGVs, enabling continuous 24/7 throughput while significantly reducing labor costs. Unlike autonomous road vehicles, terminal AGVs run exclusively within secured, predefined yard areas and are tightly integrated with the Terminal Operating System (TOS), which assigns tasks in real time.
